Hurricane Milton is advancing toward Florida, presenting an "extremely serious threat" to the region

 

Communities in Florida are preparing for Hurricane Milton, which has rapidly escalated from a tropical storm to a dangerous hurricane, intensifying more quickly than forecasted.

By early Tuesday morning, the National Hurricane Center downgraded Milton to a Category 4 storm; however, they cautioned that the hurricane still poses a significant threat to Florida.
